How to Backup and Restore Outlook Express Address Book

There is nothing as important as your contacts either it is personal or business communication. So in the Outlook Express, your address book is one of the most important content that you have in OE. Outlook Express some time gets corrupted and does not allow user to access any of the data it contains. To prevent Outlook Express from such scenarios, regularly back-up your address book and keep the back up on different system.


How to Backup Address Book

To create the backup copy of Outlook Express Address book follow below mentioned steps.

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Go to Tools and select Address Book.
3. Now, click on Help and select About Address Book
4. It will pop-up a new window containing File box.
5. Select the Path in File box excluding the filename
6. Put the path in the Windows browser.
7. It will show your Address Book file, back up it on a safe location.

If clicking on About Address Book doesn't open File box.

1. Select Run from the Start menu.
2. Type regedit and hit enter
3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\-Software\-Microsoft\-WAB\-WAB4\-Wab File Name.
4. Copy this path
5. Go to Run, paste this path and hit enter
6. This will show your address book file
7. Copy this file and save it as a backup copy of your Address Book

Now you have back up of your Address book, so you will not lose your contacts in any case of disaster.

How to Restore Outlook Express Address book

To restore OE Address Book from backup follow below mentioned steps:

Have the backup copy of your address book on your system or insert the removable disk into the system that contains back up copy of Address Book.

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Go to Tools in the menu bar of OE.
3. Select Address Book.
4. Now select File > Import > Address Book (WBA)... from the menu bar.
5. Browse and select the back-up copy of Address Book.
6. Click Open > OK.

All your address book content is now accessible in Outlook Express folder. This will keep you away from wondering about the possibilities of what to do in case your file gets corrupt and you lose all your contacts.
