Mail Backup Tool to avoid the Fear of Outlook Mailbox Data Loss

In order to maintain the integrity of your data, it is said to maintain its backup, likewise if you are using a Microsoft Exchange Server email account or HTTP account, then you should have the backup of PST file. Personal Storage Table file or PST file is an Outlook data file that is stored on the hard drive of your computer for storing all your mailbox data such as ‘Inbox’, ‘Contacts’, and ‘Calendar’ items. The default location of your PST file when you are using Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003 on Windows XP is ‘C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook’ and when you are using these versions of Outlook in MS Windows Server 2003 then ‘C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook’. After locating your PST file, copy it either by clicking ‘CTRL+C’ or by right clicking this file and then selecting the option to copy and then pasting it to a safe location by clicking ‘CTRL+V’ or selecting the command to paste after right click. 

  • Use Import and Export Wizard: By using the ‘Import and Export’ wizard, you can import your entire PST file to another location. Follow the below mentioned steps to perform this operation: 

  1. Go to the ‘File’ option of the interface of Outlook and then click ‘Import and Export’ option.
  2. Select the option that says ‘Export to a file’ and then click ‘Next’.
  3. Now choose ‘Personal Folder File (.pst)’ option and then click ‘Next’.
  4. Select the folder from which you want to export the data and check the option to include subfolders. This dialog box also contains ‘Filter..’ button that allows you to export only selective email messages and then click ‘Next’.
  5. Now choose a safe location for saving the exported file and then press ‘Finish’ button to end the job.
